This post is specifically for StingRay as he wanted to see something 'new' on the webpage...

Here are some cool links...

Devaint Art - For application skins, wallpapers, general digital art
Hoverdesk - A pretty good windows shell replacement (ala Litestep) with some GREAT skins
Bersirc - Another IRC client of sorts... scripting via Pascal, relatively configurable, built-in winamp plug-in, etc.

THERE YOU GO STINGRAY, HAVE FUN.

WinXP Piracy code.
Posted by Time2Die@ 8:51 AM EDT

Here's an article discribing how the activation process works:

Nothing really new but could be useful for anyone that hasn't read anything about it and/or only heard second hand info and rumors.

EoD Match.
Posted by Time2Die@ 1:31 AM EDT

We played our CAL match tonight against EoD. Even tho the servers were brimming with clans playing matches we managed to secure a "Retirement Home" (RH) server/port which seems to be pretty reasonable and fair for everyone. The RH server's have turned into the "teamplay east" of the CTF community.

The first map played was our pick of Q3WCTF1. The fight for the middle/powerups was vicious with the end result being a KI victory. The second map was EoD's pick of "Troubled Waters" aka Q3CTF2, a map we recently had studied up on in anticipation of playing on, which payed off with another win. The third was the weekly "CAL selected" map of wnoise which also happens to be an Alliance CTF map which Sploid was very familiar with. With that we won the last game to sweep the match 3-0. GG GUYS! Here are the SS's: Game1 - Game2 - Game3

This was a match that was a long time coming and one that I wasn't looking forward to due to the high chance of conflict. With a shared history that both clans have I was glad to see the match come off without a hitch with everyone showing good sportsmanship. There was some discretion about the new CAL rules about snaps and maxpackets and what some of the EoD players had their clients set to but I think that was partly due to the newness of the rules. I'm glad to see CAL take a stand where other leagues have waffled.

Latest Matches.
Posted by Time2Die@ 12:31 AM EDT

Played er33t for our CAL match...with mixed results. Sploid had some connection problems (to put it mildy) and was un-able to play. The result was that we tied er33t 2 games and lost one. Big thanks go out to jargirl for stepping up unexpectedly even tho her mouse was on the blink. Here are the ss's: Game1 - Game2 - Game3

Our OGL match tonight with XEN started out rough with us losing on q3wctf1 1-2. But for the second game we regrouped and made the nessary changes needed to win the second one 1-0. For the tie breaker we played dbox. Early on we took the lead and at one point had it 3-0 only to have XEN come back late on a 3-0 run to tie it and send it into overtime. In the end N8_Dawg brought it home with regen and made the overtime cap to win 4-3 and take the game and the match. Here are the ss's: Game1 - Game2 - Game3

Win2k Refresh rate fix.
Posted by Time2Die@ 12:23 PM EDT

r_displayrefresh is supposed to be able to jack your refresh rate up for you but it doesn't seem to 100% work in win2k. This util from The ZTN website will fix you up. What I would recommend, from someone that the first time they used this completely screwed their video up :, only modify the resolutions you use and only set them to resolutions you know your monitor will do. I have mine at 120 for 640, 800 and 1024 and it does seem to be smoother. Here's the local link as FilePlanet is useless at certain times of the day...

Spyware.
Posted by Time2Die@ 10:20 AM EDT

No I'm not talking about Gamespy...even tho it is, I'm talking about freeware that sits in the background and reports your web habits back to the "mother site". RW installs one and it looks as tho Comet Cursor IS ONE! So to check on my machine I went to OptOut's site, a util that for the paste couple of years has been good about offering free detection only to find that they've moved on. But they offer this link as an alternative:

http://www.lavasoft.de/aaw/aaware.html

I installed and tried it...very nice! I would recommend installing it for no other reason as to remove all the "Comet Cursor" crap that you might have out there. It looks for cookies, registry settings and program files...o and it's free :>

Match History.
Posted by Time2Die@ 10:52 AM EDT

Well I finally caught the match history section up a little. I am trying to piece together our OGL history...but since the old page is down I am having to use demo's and screenshots to help fill in the holes...but it looks like we didn't play at all in Jan and Feb and that's not the case. But at least we're more up to date than previously the case ;>

OGL Match against WSC.
Posted by Time2Die@ 5:51 PM EDT

We played and won our first "Worldogl" match last night 2-1. Server selection wasn't bad and everyone was ready to go only 45 minutes after the match was supposed to start. The first match was on Q3CTF4 and WSC showed it's experience in controlling the map and the game by securing the rail platforms. In the end we lost 8-10. The second game we played Q3WCTF2, the map we had picked for the match, and won 9-0. For our tie breaker we played JapanCTF and won the game and the match with a 8-2 win. Thanks for everyone that played and to WSC for being great sports. We are now #3 on the worldogl ladder.

CAL.
Posted by Time2Die@ 5:42 PM EDT

Killers Inc. has at taken WM's place in CAL. Big thanks to Minotaur for the heads up on the opportunity as I waited to long to signup up from the beginning and missed the deadline. Here's the CAL Quake3 Homepage. The map selection is like OGL in that each team picks a map. The third map is selected by the CAL admin for each week. It is a 3 game match, not a best of 3, where each win is worth 3 points. Check out the full rule set here:

In & Out.
Posted by Time2Die@ 2:24 AM EDT

I'm off to Houston for the weekend...hope everyone has a great weekend!

Servers.
Posted by Time2Die@ 2:23 AM EDT

I have updated the 152.16.203.20 to the latest OSP as well as the 4 additional maps that CAL is using. Here's a zip file with the maps for easy access:

http://www.killersinc.com/files/cal-ctflevels.zip

You can access the maps by doing a "callvote map" to list the options and then doing "callvote map #" where # is the number of the map that you want to play.

Geekplay.
Posted by Time2Die@ 9:29 AM EDT

I think I have mentioned this Q3 demo player before but here's the link again:

http://www.geekboys.org/geekplay/

It worked the demoplay worked for q1-3. It also supports older 1.17 demo's by converting them on the fly. A util that's really good for downloading demo's, popping into the zip and running them from there.

N8_Dawg and Tribes too
Posted by Jeremy@ 11:30 AM EDT

Great fun this weekend as about half of KI helped N8_Dawg move into his new place. I think we're all feeling the pain now, but I for one look forward to some LAN action in his l33t loft to make up for it :)

About the only perk to working at Best Buy is that I was able to snag a copy of Tribes2 as it hit the shelves. This game really rox0rz, and t2d is right, it is a system hog from hell... but you really feel like you're in a warzone when it's cranked up. I'll have a review up on my personal web space within a week or so, if anybody is interested.
